Location of Jaco Beach and the Hotel Poseidon is about 90 minutes from San José, making it one of the closest and most convenient beach towns to the international airport of Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) outside San José. On your drive to Jacó, you will enjoy the views of coffee plantations (coffetals), small local villages and mountain ranges before descending to our beach town on the Pacific coast.
The drive takes about 1-1/2 hours depending on traffic. From San José, take the main highway (Carretera Interamericana) going North towards San Ramon. The highway will go north past the Juan Santamaría airport (do NOT take the exit to Alajuela and do NOT follow the signs to San Jose). Follow the big sign to San Ramon. Stay on the Interamericana for about 8 minutes. As you see the Dos Pinos plant on your left, immediately you will exit to the right (with a steep ramp up which is still under construction), then cross left back over the highway over the bridge (which is also under construction). Follow this road for about 5 minutes, until you get to the new highway. Take a quick right onto the “new” highway. The “new” highway is a Toll Road. So be prepared with cash to pay about $1.50 (750 colones) per toll. Follow this through the Atenas Toll and the Orotina Toll. After the Orotina Toll, stay in the right lane and look for signs to Jaco. You will quickly exit to the right and loop down to the Costanera Highway. Once you hit the Costanera, Jaco is about 30-40 minutes from this point. Jacó has several exits (turning right), which will take you toward the Pacific Ocean. Hit the main street which parallels the beach and turn left towards the center of town. Look for Subway Restaurant on your left. You will then cross a small bridge. Hotel Poseidon is 2 streets up from this on your Right on Calle Bohio. However, recently Calle Bohio was turned into a 1-way street. So you will need to turn right immediatly after this small bridge. Follow this road straight until you see the beach. Turn left, drive parallel to the beach for about 2 blocks, then turn left at the end of this road. Drive up this street for 1/2 block and Hotel Poseidon will be on your Left. Once at the hotel, you will find our location very convenient for your vacations days. If you want to park your car in a secure parking lot, we have an arrangement with Parqueo El Paso, which will be on your right, just across the street from Hotel Poseidon. Hotel guests are given a discounted rate of $6 per night for secure parking. Make sure you get a form from our Reception desk to put in the windshield of you car to show you are a guest at Hotel Poseidon.
